How it works?
Application for admission to the U.S. universities
Applying to the U.S universities is a daunting task for someone who is not familiar with the entire application process. The U.S. has more than 800 universities and colleges that offer courses most sought after by the Indian students. E.g computer science, bio-sciences, arts, commerce, accounting, management, engineering and medicine etc. So how does one shortlist 5-6 universities from a list of 500-600?
Here in comes into picture the expertise of our counselors. We will study your entire profile in detail, and suggest you the universities that are most suitable to your specific profile and where there is a reasonably good chance of you being accepted for admission, possibly with financial aid. The parameters that we consider for shortlisting include the university/college attended in India, the degrees earned, the GPA earned, research experience, work experience recommendation letters etc. We also take into account your financial resources as well as any location preference that you may have in the U.S. Once we have short listed 5-6 most suitable universities for you, we will do the complete documentation involved in the application process. This includes online application, drafting the all-important statement of purpose, relevant and to-the-point recommendation letters, a professional resume, research papers that you may have published, degree transcripts, affidavit of support, bank and financial documents etc.
Once you have applied to 5-6 universities, we expect 3-4 of them to admit you, possibly 1-2 with financial aid. At this stage our experienced counselors will help you in selecting the one university that would be most suitable for you and for which you will apply for the student visa. The factors that are considered in arriving at this decision may vary from case to case, but certain parameters like the reputation of the university, the faculty, the research profile and the funding available etc. are common to all candidates.
Student visa application and Interview
After you have decided which university you will attend, comes the most difficult stage of the entire application process. Getting that coveted F1 visa. Yes, getting an American student visa is more difficult than getting student visa of other country in the world. Remember there are more students applying for the U.S. visa than any other visa. And consequently there are more rejections of U.S. student visa applications worldwide than any other student visa.
However on our part, we at Destination America Consulting make sure that you give your best shot at the interview and come out a winner! We will ensure that all your documentation is impeccable, that you are prepared to answer all the questions that the Consular Officer may ask, and that you are well acquainted with the entire interview process before hand, through our mock interview sessions and detailed questionnare.
